Roots in ancient Crete
Archaeological evidence traces olive cultivation on the island back roughly 6,000 years.

Our story · Greece to Japan
Orizon Essence began with a Greek view we could not forget—and a flavor we wanted Japan to know.
Founded in 2023
Rooted in Greece and shaped in Japan, Orizon Essence brings together two cultures united by a respect for season, provenance and food prepared with care.
The journey began with the olive oil brought home from Greece—fresh, aromatic and full of character. It inspired a wider purpose: to introduce Japan to exceptional Greek products, thoughtfully selected for their quality, origin and the people behind them.

The moment it became ours
A journey through Greece allowed the familiar to be seen anew. Experienced through both Greek and Japanese perspectives, its food, landscapes and traditions revealed a quality shaped by place, season and generations of knowledge. That shared discovery became the inspiration to bring the character of Greece closer to Japan.
Crete and the olive
On Crete, olive oil is not a trend. It is a living inheritance—cultivated, traded, cooked with and passed down for thousands of years.
Archaeological evidence traces olive cultivation on the island back roughly 6,000 years.
Minoan communities produced, stored and traded olive oil in clay vessels, making it central to life and exchange.
One of the world's oldest living olive trees—often estimated at 3,000 to 5,000 years—continues to bear fruit in Crete.
Modern Cretan producers pair inherited knowledge with careful milling, testing and traceability.
Why Orizon
From ancient roots to the tables of today, the character of Greece has been preserved through land, knowledge and craftsmanship. Orizon continues that story across borders, selecting products of exceptional quality and bringing the cultures of Greece and Japan closer together.
Our work now
We work with Cretan families whose oils have a clear place, character and standard of quality.
We make excellent olive oil easier to understand through taste, pairings and the stories behind each harvest.
Our goal is simple: help more people in Japan discover what real Greek olive oil can add to everyday food.
